Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

"Don't Judge a Book by its Cover" is a visual art exhibition designed to challenge perceptions and invite viewers to look beyond the superficial. Presented at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the exhibition features artists who use unexpected materials, surprising forms, and innovative techniques to question initial impressions and judgments. Each piece serves as a metaphor for the complexity of identity and hidden depths beneath external appearances. The exhibition runs from February 3–March 1, 2025, with an opening event on Friday, February 7, from 5-7pm.

This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work must have been produced within the last five years, and all styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Artists may submit 1-20 images. Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. All submitted work must be available at the time of the exhibit and remain for its entirety.

Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Work should be shipped to: The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Attn: Molly Demeulenaere, 307 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. Shipped work must arrive by Saturday, February 1, 2025. Artists must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS, FedEx, or USPS. A $15 per piece handling fee applies if artwork is not shipped in an airfloat art box. Framed work must be fitted firmly in frame with wire for hanging; no loose glass over mats. Gallery wrapped canvases are permitted. Poorly presented work will not be hung. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by Tuesday, January 21, 2025. All images must be in JPEG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5 mb. The Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members.
