About This Call
The Juried Visual Art Exhibition showcases exceptional new art and is one of the pillars for the Festival's high-quality visual arts offerings. The exhibition is hosted inside the Trust Arts Education Center (James E. Rohr Building) at 805-807 Liberty Avenue in the Cultural District during the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, June 1–10, 2018. The exhibition welcomes thousands of visitors over the course of ten days and artworks may be featured in Festival press coverage or purchased by festival attendees. Select artists have been recruited to exhibit in solo and group shows as part of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's gallery system and other gallery opportunities citywide. All accepted artists will be invited to the private preview and public reception. There is no application fee, and admission is free and open to the public.
Artists must reside within 150 miles of 805-807 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 and may submit up to 3 individual pieces. All work must be original, designed and created by the applicant, not previously exhibited in Pittsburgh, and completed within the past 2 years from June 2018. Video and sound components must be intended for gallery display; documented performances are ineligible. All work must be ready to hang, exhibit, or be installed during scheduled hours. Installation-based works must be installed by the artist and should take no longer than two 8-hour work days. All work must be available for display for the full duration of the festival, June 1–10, 2018.
Awards include Best in Show ($2,500), Juror's Choice ($500, 3 total awards), and People's Choice ($500). Artists will receive notification of application status in March. Selected artists must sign and return the exhibition agreement by March 31, 2018. All accepted artwork must be delivered in person and picked up at 805-807 Liberty Avenue during the schedule outlined in the acceptance letter. Works selected for exhibition may be offered for sale at the artist's discretion; the Festival receives a 20% commission on all sales. If work is selected, a signed application and agreement is a commitment to show the selected piece(s). Cancellations must be received in writing before March 31, 2018, and works may not be removed until the Festival's conclusion.
