About This Call
The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, invites artists to submit work for the 2015 Juried Visual Art Exhibition. The exhibition showcases exceptional new art and will be displayed inside the Trust Arts Education Center (James E. Rohr Building) at 805-807 Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh's Cultural District during the Festival, June 5-14, 2015.
The conceptual framework for 2015 is UNSEEN / UNHEARD. Artists who have never exhibited or performed before at the Festival are encouraged to apply. Artwork that explores unheard narratives or brings into visibility individuals, cultures or social issues will be taken into consideration. Art installations dealing with visual and auditory senses are also encouraged. All works are juried by Pittsburgh-based artists and curators through an anonymous jury process, with decisions based on artistic quality. The 2015 juror is Astria Suparak, an independent curator with extensive international exhibition experience.
Artists may submit up to 3 individual pieces (each on a separate application), with 1-3 total work samples per application. All work must be original, created by the applicant, not previously exhibited in Pittsburgh, and completed within the past 2 years. Video and sound components must be intended for gallery display; documented performances are ineligible. Selected artists will be notified in March and must sign and return the exhibition agreement by March 30, 2015. All accepted artwork must be delivered in person during the schedule outlined in the acceptance letter; shipments cannot be received. Works must be available for display for the full Festival duration.
Awards include: Best in Show ($2,500), Curators Award ($500), and People's Choice Award ($500). Cancellations must be submitted in writing before March 30, 2015. For more information, visit www.trustarts.org/TRAF or contact [email protected].
