Dixieland Art Infusion

The City of Lakeland CRA requests proposals from mural artists to collaborate with business owners on creating original art pieces along the priority corridor in the Downtown and Dixieland CRA districts. The Dixieland Art Infusion spans the Florida Ave corridor and aims to refresh building facades, encourage artistic expression, and engage the art community through mural installation.

Artists must be willing to work collaboratively with property owners to design an original mural for their building. Property and business owners will make selections based on submitted portfolios, resumes, and artist statements. Selected artists will be commissioned at $5 per square foot for the subject mural, with payment of 50% at project beginning and the remainder upon completion. Artists will be reimbursed for paint, supplies, and rentals used for the mural at completion. Travel and lodging expenses are not covered.

Submissions must include a current resume, artist statement, and a minimum of three images of relevant artwork (completed within the past ten years), with a maximum of eight images. If selected, the artist will be contacted for a kickoff meeting with the Lakeland CRA and property owner to begin concept work. If a mural concept cannot be agreed upon after one revision, the artist will not be selected and will receive a $100 stipend for their time. The Artist Agreement is executed once the owner makes an artist selection and agrees to a concept approved by the Lakeland CRA.
