Disrupted Realism

Buckham Gallery invites submissions for Disrupted Realism, a national juried exhibition established to explore contemporary painting that challenges traditional concepts of realism. The exhibition features juror John Seed, Professor Emeritus of art and art history at Mt. San Jacinto College and author of "Disrupted Realism," and featured artist Anne Harris, whose work has been exhibited at venues including the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institute, The Portland Museum of Art, and the California Center for Contemporary Art. Her work is held in public collections including The Fogg Museum at Harvard, The Yale University Art Gallery, and The New York Public Library.

Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years of age or older and residents of the USA. Each artist may submit 3 works for $20, with $5 for each additional image up to a maximum of 6 images. All work must be original in concept, and submitted images must represent the work's true appearance without digital alteration. Submissions must be entered through CaFE by September 15, 2020. Artists will be notified by October 15, 2020.

Selected works must be delivered to Buckham Gallery by April 2, 2021. Artists must cover transportation costs. All work must arrive ready to install with professional-level presentation. Works may be hand delivered or shipped in reusable packaging. The gallery is not responsible for works damaged in transport, but all works will be insured during the exhibition. The gallery retains a 35% commission on sales. Prizes: First prize $750; Second prize $500; Third prize $250. Awards will be selected by juror John Seed once the show is installed.
