About This Call
Pasadena Playhouse, the official State Theater of California and recipient of the 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award, seeks a Director of Events to oversee all fundraising, engagement, and enterprise-wide events. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position manages the Playhouse's largest fundraising event with a net revenue goal of $1M+ annually, leads a portfolio of signature donor engagement events including Opening Nights and the Gilmor Brown Luncheon, oversees all on-site special events, and develops a scalable rentals program for Playhouse spaces.
The Director of Events will work closely with colleagues across Development, Finance, Communications, Production, Education, Marketing, Facilities, and Front of House, as well as with donors, volunteers, and trustees. Key responsibilities include leading event planning and strategy for the annual Playhouse Party gala, establishing pricing and marketing strategies for venue rentals, designing consistent practices for booking and managing all Playhouse events, and providing guidance on hospitality and entertainment elements. The role requires availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Minimum qualifications include 7–10 years of professional event planning experience with a track record in producing high-revenue fundraising events, strong leadership and project management skills, experience managing complex budgets and meeting ambitious revenue goals, exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively across departments. Knowledge of the Pasadena/Los Angeles donor and event markets is a plus. Annual compensation range is $85,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience. Submit cover letter and resume to [email protected]. Deadline: March 7, 2026.
