About This Call
Geffen Playhouse seeks a Director of Development & Strategic Growth to report to the Executive Director/CEO and provide comprehensive strategic direction for the theater's overall development program. This is a full-time, exempt position in the Development department.
The Director will provide impetus and support to fundraising efforts of the Board, Executive Director/CEO, and Artistic Director by executing annual, sponsorship, capital, endowment, and planned giving programs, as well as fundraising and stewardship events. Responsibilities include envisioning and implementing innovative strategies for fundraising, engagement, and audience development; serving as a catalyst for new connections and collaborations; providing timely and accurate reports to leadership; managing Development department staff; developing and maintaining planned giving strategy; designing and implementing strategies to achieve annual fundraising goals; supervising grant application, reporting, and tracking processes; ensuring proper record-keeping and stewardship of gifts; developing and monitoring budgets for events and campaigns; and maintaining a master calendar of fundraising events and campaigns.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in arts administration, non-profit management, communication, or related field; minimum 8 to 10 years of progressive development experience; proven track record of successful interactions with boards and diverse community stakeholders; proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and an entrepreneurial attitude with self-starter capability and curiosity. Experience with Tessitura software is a plus. Salary range is $150,000–$160,000 per year. Benefits include HMO health insurance, PPO dental and vision coverage, paid time off, $25,000 life insurance, and a 401(k) profit-sharing plan after one year of service.
