About This Call
1st Annual Dinnerware Museum Juried Competition, part of the special exhibition The Art of High Chair Fine Dining. Exhibition dates: September 2–29, 2014. Opening reception Saturday, September 6, 2–4 p.m. The Dinnerware Museum, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
This juried exhibition showcases contemporary dinnerware for babies and small children created by artists in all media from the United States and Canada. No media restrictions. All work must be a place setting or a reference to such, consisting of up to 5 pieces, created for a baby or toddler's use while dining in a high chair or in a booster chair at a standard table. The maximum footprint will be a standard placemat size (16" x 14"). Items may be stacked. No wall pieces will be accepted. Work does not need to be for sale. However, the Dinnerware Museum will retain a 30% commission on any work sold during the exhibition.
Entry fee: $35.00 (non-refundable). Submit all applications electronically by July 21, 2014 through CaFÉ. Each entrant may submit one baby/toddler dinnerware set with two digital images of that set for consideration. Include a brief artist bibliography including a one-page vitae and an artist statement about the place setting and dining. Artists will be notified of acceptance by July 25, 2014. Accepted artwork must be received by August 15, 2014. All work must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Artists must maintain their own insurance and are responsible for insurance on inbound and outbound shipping as well as while on the exhibition site. Artwork must be shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS in a sturdy reusable container. Accepted artists shipping their work must include prepaid charges for return shipping. Juror: Marie Woo, internationally known ceramist.
