About This Call

Dillman's National Art Exhibition presents "Alive and Dead, Standing and Fallen: A Reflection on Life and Mortality," an exhibition exploring the complex and intertwined themes of life, death, resilience, and vulnerability. Through various artistic mediums and interpretations, the exhibition aims to evoke contemplation, introspection, and a deeper understanding of the human experience. The exhibition is organized into three sections: Embracing Life's Vitality celebrates the vibrancy and vitality of life through paintings, sculptures, and photographs depicting scenes of joy, passion, and growth. The Persistence of Memory delves into the ephemeral nature of existence and the passage of time, exploring themes of nostalgia, remembrance, and fleeting moments through photography, mixed media, and installations. Fragility and Resilience focuses on the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength, depicting human experiences of hardship, adversity, and survival through sculptures, installations, and multimedia artworks.

This is a national art show open to artists 18 years or older who reside in the United States. Entry fee is $35.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Applicants may submit up to 2 pieces, with 1-3 images and 0-2 videos required. All artwork must be original, and applicants must submit an artist statement limited to 500 characters including title, medium, size, and origin story for each piece. Jury decisions are based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality. $4,000 in prizes will be awarded. Judge Sandie Bacon is a Chicago-based visual artist with extensive exhibition history and teaching experience.

The exhibition runs October 6-20, 2023 at Dillman's Art Workshop Retreat, 13277 Dillman's Way, Lac du Flambeau, WI 54538. An in-person opening reception is scheduled for October 7 at 4 pm, with the show open to the public Monday-Saturday 10 am-4 pm. Dillman's provides a secure, locked display area and insurance from receipt of work until the show's end. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance during transit. Covered tables are available for 3D media; artists with special display requirements must provide necessary items. 100% of sales go to the artist. Notification of jury decisions will be sent via email by September 20, 2023. Work delivery and check-in is October 3, 2023 by appointment only. Pick-up or return shipping occurs October 21-27, 2023.
