Dia de los Muertos Art Show: Online & In Person

6th Street Studios & Art Center presents the 3rd Annual Dia de los Muertos exhibition, celebrating the Day of the Dead both in person and online for the first time. The in-person exhibition will be displayed in the window gallery located on a main road in downtown Gilroy, lit and visible 24/7. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-2pm. An artist reception will be held on 10/20 from 5-8pm during the Third Friday Art Walk. The show will run from 10/7 to 11/2/23 and will be exhibited alongside the annual display of shoe box altars by South Valley Middle School and offerendas by local artists participating in the La Offerenda Festival on 10/28/23.

One local artist will be selected to build a center-piece offerenda and will receive a $100 stipend. Best in Show receives a $50 award (one selection between online and in-person entries). In-person works can be featured online if high resolution images and all information are provided ahead of time.

Entry fee is $25. Submit 1-5 high resolution images with your application. Drop-off dates are 9/29 (9-2pm), 10/2-10/5 (9-2pm), or by appointment. Accepted artists will receive an email with an inventory sheet to complete. Information must be submitted on a Google Sheets spreadsheet by 9/29. Pick up works on 11/3 (9-2pm), 11/6 (9-2pm), or by appointment. Anyone can apply for the online exhibition. For in-person participation, artists must be able to drop off and pick up their own works; the organization does not ship works.
