About This Call
The Blank Theatre Co seeks a Development Director to lead fundraising strategy and implementation. This part-time, salaried, exempt position offers a salary range of $2,000/month with an expected 20 to 25-hour work week. The organization hopes to migrate this position to full-time work as revenue increases.
The Development Director will be responsible for creating, organizing and executing The Blank's fundraising work plan, including foundation grants, government contracts, events, outreach and individual donors. Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive fundraising plans in partnership with the Executive Producing Director and Board President; inspiring and coordinating the Board, staff, volunteers and supporters to participate in fundraising efforts; finding and securing new funding opportunities; maintaining relationships with donors and foundation partners; developing and implementing grassroots fundraising strategies; grant writing and proposal submissions; managing donor and grant databases; and supporting the annual Young Playwrights Festival. The Development Director will report to the Executive Producing Director and the Board President.
Required qualifications include 1 year or more experience in nonprofit arts administration or fundraising, proven track record with organizations having an annual budget of at least $75,000, project management skills, ability to multi-task in remote and in-person settings, strong relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Nice-to-have skills include pre-existing knowledge of and relationships with arts funders, understanding of nonprofit grassroots fundraising, and knowledge of arts funding and legislative advocacy. The position is hybrid remote and in-person, based in Los Angeles, CA, and requires occasional in-person meetings and activities.
To apply, send resume, 1-2 page cover letter, and three relevant work examples in PDF form to Paulo Andres at [email protected]. Cover letters should address: what interests you in this role and why you're a good match; an ambitious administrative goal you successfully achieved and how you did it; and your approach to foundation prospecting. This position will remain open until filled.
