About This Call
The Museum of Outdoor Arts (MOA), a Colorado-based non-profit, is seeking up to 8 interns for the Summer 2023 Design and Build program. Participants will collaboratively create unique, site-specific installations or sculptures for outdoor display at Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village, CO. The 8-week intensive program runs June 14 - August 5, 2023 (M-F, 9:30am-5pm, 30-35 hours per week). Work will take place at the Sculpture Lab of the College of Arts & Media on the campus of the University of Colorado Denver in Downtown Denver.
Interns will participate in all stages of the art-making process, from concept development and proposal review through materials procurement, timeline and budget management, creation, and installation. All materials and tools will be provided with a project budget of up to $10,000. An artist reception will be held August 5, 2023 (5-8pm), and artwork will remain on public view through spring 2024.
Compensation includes a $3,000 stipend plus an additional $300 for parking/public transit expenses. Housing is not provided, but reduced-cost on-campus housing is available through CU Denver's housing department, subject to availability. CU Denver students may take the course (ARTS 4939) for 3 credits or complete it not-for-credit. Non-CU affiliated students may participate but should work through their home institution if seeking credit. Ideal candidates should have experience or enrollment in painting, drawing, sculpture, woodworking, carpentry, industrial design, installation art, engineering, digital media production, or related creative programs. Open to undergrads, graduate-bound, and emerging artists (recent graduates within 1 year of graduation). Applicants must be available for the entire program duration and work well in a collaborative team environment. Participants must adhere to all CU Denver campus guidelines.
