About This Call
The City of Denver's Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original, site-specific, outdoor public artwork for the new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center. The commission amount is $485,000 USD.
The artwork site is adjacent to the new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center and faces Speer Boulevard, visible to employees, patients, visitors, and pedestrians. The selection panel seeks artworks that are inclusive and responsive to culturally diverse communities, creating a sense of hope and inspiration. All media and materials suitable for outdoor display are welcome. Artists must consider long-term conservation, maintenance, durability, and ADA standards. The project is open internationally to artists of all backgrounds. Teams may apply with one résumé per team member.
Applicants must submit six digital images, a résumé, and a statement of interest (no longer than 2,000 characters) via www.callforentry.org. The selection panel will select up to five finalists to create site-specific proposals and participate in interviews. Finalists will receive an honorarium and must submit a Diversity & Inclusiveness Form. The selected artist or team will collaborate with Denver Public Art and Denver Health design staff to finalize designs for installation. The $485,000 budget covers all project costs including design fees, consultation, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and contingency. Prevailing wage requirements apply for work on city property. Entry deadline: Monday, March 9, 2020, 11:59 p.m. MST. Finalist selection: April 2020. Artist selection and notification: June 2020.
