About This Call
The City of Stockton is seeking proposals from qualified artists or art organizations to design and manage the installation of a large-scale themed mural or abstract design on the basketball court playing surface at Dentoni Park. The court resurfacing is scheduled to be completed by July 1st, 2021. The completed art piece should be representative of the community and enhance the space for local multi-generational enjoyment.
The project involves a 30' x 60' playing surface. The total project budget will not exceed $10,000 and must include art design, application, installation, all permits and fees, prevailing wage if applicable, travel, artist's fee, and all direct costs. Artists or art organizations may submit proposals individually or as a team. Artists living in or experienced working in California are encouraged to apply, with local preference given to artists living and/or art organizations located in San Joaquin County and the City of Stockton.
Proposals must include: completed application, letter of interest, professional resume, presentation of digital images, image identification list, proposal design and statement of approach, visual representation of proposal, project fees and fee schedule, and professional references. Proponents must demonstrate relevant past work, creative and technical expertise, placemaking experience, project management experience, experience working with community groups, and experience with municipal agencies or nonprofits. The proposed design should reflect consideration of exposure to moisture, sun, high winds, extreme weather, and vandalism. Proposals are due July 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Questions regarding the RFP should be directed to Trevor Wilson at [email protected] by June 18, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
