About This Call
Delectable is a juried national exhibition of food-themed artworks open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. The exhibition welcomes functional and non-functional work in all mediums and styles, including 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft. Work must depict food as the focal point or subject, which can include cooked and prepared food, raw fruits and vegetables, food in process, eating, and related themes. This is a positive food exhibition with no graphic or disturbing art considered.
Work must be hang or pedestal ready, with a maximum dimension of 60 inches and weight limit of 50 pounds. Size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the gallery manager prior to submission. All work must be original, created without instructor or kit assistance, and produced within the last eight years. The exhibition will be held in person at d'Art Center's Main Gallery (740 Boush St, Norfolk, Virginia) from May 27 to June 24, 2023, with a reception scheduled for June 2 or 3, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm. The exhibition will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.
Entry fee is $35 for 3 works (one image per submission), with additional submissions at $5 each up to a maximum of 10 works. Submissions require 3-10 images. The juried exhibition is co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and juror Eafrica Johnson. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). d'Art Center retains a 60/40 commission on sales (60% artist, 40% center). Accepted works must arrive by May 20, 2023.
