Decadence + Desire

Gallery 114 invites artists to submit work exploring the themes of decadence and desire for a juried exhibition. Decadence is when you have more than you need. Desire is when you want more than you have. Together they are volatile, unstable and irresistible. The exhibition seeks artworks that explore these themes on a personal, political, cultural or social level.

All 2 and 3 dimensional media are welcome. Works must be original and should not exceed 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width. Individual pieces should not exceed $5,000. Submit 1-3 images of your work through CaFÉ at CallForEntry.org. Entry fee is $30 for three submissions. Deadline for submission is May 8, 2019 at 12:00 am Central Time. Notification date is May 11, 2019.

The exhibition runs June 6-29, 2019. Accepted works must be installation-ready, framed or encased with appropriate hanging hardware and installation instructions, clearly labeled with artist name and title. Local works must arrive by 5 PM Saturday, June 1, 2019. Shipped work via FedEx must arrive by 5 PM May 31, 2019 to 1625 NE 7th Avenue, Portland, OR 97232. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return shipping costs. Gallery 114 will insure works on site for market value. All sales are handled through Gallery 114 with a 35% commission. Opening reception is Thursday, June 6, 2019, 6-9 PM. All work must be picked up by 5 PM June 29, 2019, or will be returned during the two weeks following the close of the exhibition.
