Dayton Visual Arts Center - Kroger Store Public Art RFQ

DVAC, in partnership with the Kroger Company, will commission a professional artist to create an indoor artwork for a new Kroger grocery store located in Fairborn (E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd). The artwork will be prominently displayed on a wall inside the store as part of the Kroger Company's commitment to involving artists in beautifying new stores in the Miami Valley and throughout the nation. The artwork will be mounted on panels of durable material and will be 12 1/2 feet wide by 5 feet high. The artwork should celebrate the spirit of the community and the unique identity of the neighborhood and its surroundings.

Eligibility: Any amateur or professional artist or designer ages 18 and older is eligible to apply. Artists under 18 may apply if part of a team with at least one member 18 or older. Applicants must have primary residence within a 40-mile radius of Fairborn, OH, and must be the maker, designer, creator and producer of the work. Submission images should exemplify representative works but do not need to include a prospective proposal design.

Submission Requirements: Current resume/curriculum vita, 3-5 images of recently completed work demonstrating ability to design and scale work to a 12 x 5 foot mural (each image no larger than 5 MB), and an annotated information sheet with title, date, and brief description for each image. Awards: Up to three semi-finalists will be selected to prepare design drawings and receive $300. The selected finalist will receive $5,000 for all artist fees, design, fabrication, installation onto panels, transportation, and insurance. Kroger will own the artwork and copyright to the image. Timeline: RFQ Deadline April 15, Semi-Finalists Notified April 21, Design/Drawings Due May 12, Finalist Chosen June 1, Project Delivery September 8.
