About This Call
Day of the Dead is the traditional Mexican celebration that takes place November 1-2, when a passageway between the real world and the spirit world opens so deceased loved ones can come back and visit. This exhibition seeks artists who focus on art and subjects or work that reflects the Day of the Dead in painting, sculpture, photography, installations, traditional carvings, and other media.
All art will be shown indoors. Large works and some installations can be accommodated, but these pieces must be discussed with the curator to ensure appropriate display. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping both ways. The entry fee is $20.00, and applicants must submit up to 5 images of work available for the exhibition along with an artist statement discussing motivation and process.
Exhibition Dates: September 11 - November 30, 2024. Opening reception: September 18, 2024. Lecture: November 1, 2024. Installation: September 9-10, 2024. Deinstallation: December 1, 2024. Artists from across the US are eligible.
