Davie Mosaic Dominos Chess Tables Commission

The Town of Davie is commissioning an artist to create a maximum of two (2) mosaic-style dominos/chess tables with seating for installation at two park locations: Bamford Sports Complex near the Pine Island Multipurpose Center (3801 S. Pine Island Road) and Potter Park/Davie Police Athletic League Community Center (4300 SW 57th Terrace). The selected artist will be responsible for fabricating and installing the artwork. The theme for the project is orange grove and orange blossom, with tables featuring the same color theme but different images. The medium must be mosaic. Tables and seating should be durable, comfortable, and smooth, with prefabricated seats and tables recommended. The design must be code compliant and able to withstand South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements.

The project budget is $10,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, and installation. Shortlisted artists must submit a detailed budget list. The project is open to all professional artists. Artists are not eligible if they are Town of Davie staff or immediate family or business partners of members of the Public Art Advisory Committee or program staff.

Applications must include: resume, artist statement regarding approach to the project, examples of past artworks similar to this project (minimum 3, maximum 5), and optional design sketch. Three (3) artists may be shortlisted and paid an honorarium of $200.00. Shortlisted artists will be required to submit detailed design proposals including mock images and a budget list.
