About This Call
The Dairy Arts Center accepts applications from individual artists and arts organizations, as well as curated group exhibition proposals. A ten-member Visual Arts Jury comprised of artists, curators, university faculty, and art collectors will review applications to select artists and groups to exhibit in the Dairy's four galleries. If a curated group exhibition is selected, the curator will work closely with the Dairy's Curator of Visual Arts, who will have final approval of all matters including hanging and curation.
Founded in 1992, the Dairy Arts Center is a multi-disciplinary, not-for-profit cultural arts organization housed in the historic Watts-Hardy Dairy building in Boulder, Colorado. The building originally operated as a dairy storage and processing plant in the 1960s and 70s. Since 1997, the Dairy's visual art program has grown in recognition throughout Colorado and the United States. A major renovation from August 2015 to August 2016 added a fourth gallery with improved lighting and exhibition facilities. The Dairy also manages three live performance spaces, an art house cinema, and rents office and rehearsal space to local arts organizations. The center hosts over 200,000 arts experiences annually for people of all ages.
Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 2 applications. Work samples must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 total samples, which may consist of images (3-6), audio (0-6), or video (0-6). Artists may not bring an exhibition to the Dairy that has been shown in the Boulder area within 12 months prior to a Dairy exhibition, though individual works shown at other venues may be included in a different Dairy exhibition within a 12-month period. Work exhibited at the Dairy should be no more than three years old at the time of exhibit, though exceptions may be made by the Jury and/or Curator. The Dairy Galleries are not equipped to exhibit art jewelry. For questions, contact Rebecca Cuscaden, Curator of Visual Arts, at [email protected] or 303-440-7826 ext 107.
