CUTTING EDGE: NONTRADITIONAL GLASS

Arts Benicia invites submissions for Cutting Edge: Nontraditional Glass, an exhibition of glass artwork in all forms and methods, including blown, cast, cut, lamp worked, laminated, cold fused, sculpted, and slumped glass. Mixed media object-based work must be no less than 60% glass. Video and audio submissions and installation works strongly focused on glass as a material are welcomed, though the gallery lacks an immersive darkened room. The gallery can accommodate work from tiny to life-size, including certain monumental scale works. Artists with work requiring electrical access, dedicated lighting, or monumental/installation pieces should email [email protected] with details before applying.

Entry fee is $45 ($35 for current Arts Benicia members using code Member18). The fee includes up to three artworks. Payment may be made through CaFE using credit card or PayPal, or by check mailed to Arts Benicia. Artists may submit up to 6 still images, 1 audio file, and 1 video file (minimum 2 files per artwork). Each object-based work must include one detail image. Video and audio entries must include one still image in addition to the primary media file. Maximum file size for still images is 5 MB.

The exhibition runs July 21–August 26, 2018 (gallery hours Wednesday–Sunday, 12 PM–5 PM). Walk-in delivery is July 12, 2–7 PM and July 14, 11 AM–3 PM. Shipped work must arrive by July 12. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Unsold work may be picked up August 28–29, 2–7 PM. Jurors are Carrie Lederer, Curator of Exhibitions at Bedford Gallery, and Mary B. White, glass artist and former director of glass programs at San Jose State University. Arts Benicia retains 40% of sales; artists receive 60%.
