Currents 2020 National Craft Exhibition

Currents 2020 National Craft Exhibition is hosted by Northwest Designer Craftsmen (NWDC) and will be held at the Schack Art Center in Everett, Washington from March 5 to April 11, 2020. The exhibition will occupy both floors of the Schack Art Center and will display approximately 175 works of fine craft. The exhibition is open to NWDC members who have paid 2020 membership dues by January 6, 2020, and to artists invited by the curator and jurors.

NWDC members may submit up to three works for jurying, with a minimum of two works required. Invited artists may also submit work. All work must be original in design and completed after March 1, 2017. Collaborative works are accepted. Wall-mounted submissions may not exceed 12'W x 9'H, and sculptural submissions may not exceed 5'W x 5'D x 9'H. Work previously exhibited at the Schack Art Center is not eligible. NWDC members are guaranteed to have at least one work selected. The curator, Michael Monroe (Director Emeritus of the Bellevue Art Museum), will make final selections of invited artists and work. Jurors include Nora Atkinson (Lloyd Herman Curator of Craft, Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum) and Bruce Pepich (Executive Director and Curator of Collections, Racine Art Museum).

Entry is free. Artists may submit 2 to 9 images per entry (one overall view and up to two detail or alternative views). Images must be JPEG format, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, and 5 MB or less. The entry deadline is January 6, 2020 by 11 PM PST. Artist notification is January 31, 2020. Work must be shipped or hand-delivered to the Schack Art Center on February 24 or 25, 2020 between 10 am and 6 pm. All work should be for sale; the Schack Art Center collects a 40% commission and handles all sales transactions. Accepted work must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. The Schack Art Center provides insurance for work for its retail value while on the premises.
