Cumberland Society of Painters Juried Exhibition

The Cumberland Society of Painters is a collective of eight Tennessee artists strongly rooted in the methods and materials of traditional painting. This juried exhibition showcases representational work in oil or acrylic. Judging criteria include draftsmanship, color, and design, emphasizing the use of imagination and expressive handling of subject matter.

Eligibility: All artists who reside in the United States and are 18 years or older may enter. Artwork must be original and completed within the last two years. Paintings (unframed) should be no larger than 24x36 inches or 864 square inches. A maximum of two paintings will be selected from each accepted artist. All artwork must be for sale with a 50/50 sales commission split between artist and gallery.

Entry fee is $35 for two entries and $10 for each additional image (up to 4 total images). Artists may submit up to 4 images. Prizes include $5,000 Best of Show, $3,000 Second Prize, and $1,500 Third Prize. Awards judge is Peggi Kroll-Roberts. An opening reception and awards presentation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the awards presentation at 7:00 p.m. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on July 10, 2013. The exhibition runs through October 31, 2013. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the gallery. The gallery requires an uncrating fee of $15 unless an Airfloat box is used (20% discount available to accepted artists). All work will be handled with care, but neither Richland Fine Art nor The Cumberland Society of Painters accepts responsibility for loss or damage during transit.
