About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist or artist team for a work for hire project for the design, fabrication, and installation of a mosaic mural located on the north entrance to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, 50 Atlantic Blvd. The theme of the mural is non-objective, abstract, and/or geometric. The mosaic footprint of the mural should represent the geometry of the building, with dimensions within 22 ft. tall by 10 ft. wide. The mosaic mural must be significant in size while fitting within the footprint.
The purchase budget established for the project is $75,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, and artwork installation. The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Applicants must have experience in similar projects and are not eligible if they are immediate family or business partners of members of the Public Art Committee or program staff.
Applications must be submitted through CAFÉ and include a resume, artist statement explaining the proposed design, and examples of past work (minimum 3, maximum 5 images). A proposed design sketch is optional. The Public Art Committee will shortlist the top three applicants, who will each receive $200.00 and are required to submit a complete proposal consisting of a detailed, exact, scaled design created in CAD or similar document with a budget list. The City is permitted to request up to three revisions as needed from the final artist's design.
