About This Call
CSArt Colorado seeks 20 emerging and established Colorado-based artists to contribute their time, creativity, commitment, and artistic expertise throughout 2014. Curators will select a diverse group of artists based on artistic excellence and ability to execute the required number of works. Each artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium to support the production of 60 original works of art—50 works for shareholders and one additional work for each participating artist.
All artistic media are welcome. Artists must deliver wrapped, protected, and labeled artwork to Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art or Denver Botanic Gardens as indicated upon contract. There is currently no plan to exhibit the artwork, but online presence will be possible. All artists maintaining a residence in Colorado are eligible to apply. The program does not allow artists to participate in consecutive years; 2013 artists will be eligible again in 2015.
Submission requirements include work samples (4-5 images at 300 dpi minimum 1500 pixels on longest edge for visual artists; 2 audio examples for musicians; 2 video examples for performing arts; 3 writing samples for writers), a brief artist proposal (1,000 characters max) describing the work and its relevance to the program, and a one-page artist CV. Upon acceptance, artists must provide a headshot, biography, and 100-word artist statement. Artists will receive a share in CSArt Colorado (10 works total, including their own) and are encouraged to attend distribution events to meet patrons. Entry fee: $20.
