Crooked Tree Arts Center 4th Annual Art and the Garden Juried Exhibition

The theme for this exhibition is a liberal and open representation of "the garden." Artists are encouraged to enter work based on broad garden themes or those specific to the site of the Botanic Garden on the property of the old State Hospital in Traverse City, now part of the Historic Barns Park project. From meditation labyrinths to Japanese stone gardens, plants and gardens play an important part in our well-being. A garden might serve as a tranquil retreat or private escape from the demands of everyday life. Crooked Tree Arts Center is looking for your distinctive interpretation on the theme of gardens to share representations, abstractions, feelings, or moods.

Artists 18 years or older are eligible to participate. Original work completed within the past two years is eligible, but student work completed under the supervision of an instructor is not. Work that has been shown in previous Crooked Tree Arts Center exhibits is not eligible. Giclee prints will not be accepted. Work in all artistic media, 2-D and 3-D, will be accepted. Two-dimensional works must be framed or presented in a professional manner and prepared with suitable devices for hanging. No saw tooth hangers, metal triangle hangers, or plastic clip-on frames will be accepted. Pedestals will be available for three-dimensional works. Acceptance of large-scale submissions will depend on availability of gallery space.

Entry fee is $40 for non-members and $20 for CTAC members. Two entries per artist are permitted. Entries are accepted online January 28 – April 17, 2015. Notification of acceptance or decline will be sent by email by April 30. Accepted work can be delivered May 12-22, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (closed Sundays). The exhibition runs May 29 – August 2, 2015. Work pickup is August 3-7, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Work not picked up by September 15, 2015, becomes property of Crooked Tree Arts Center. Awards: First Place - $1,000, Second Place - $500, Third Place - $250. The reception and awards presentation is Friday, May 29, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., with awards at 6:00 p.m. All work entered must be for sale.
