Creatures Real and Imagined

Creatures Real and Imagined explores the ways in which animals and creatures, both real and imagined, have been a presence in visual art as metaphors, objects of fantasy and fear, and sources of emotional attachment and connection to the physical and non-physical realms. uBe Art wants to show the spectrum of ways in which creatures are conjured, immortalized, and depicted in the minds of artists.

Artwork selected for this exhibition will be on display in a seven-week exhibition at uBe Art in Berkeley, California, located 12 miles east of San Francisco. The gallery features a light-filled space with 25-foot ceilings. The jury panel will choose individual pieces based on technical application, originality, and concept, and consists of professional working artists, gallery curators, advertising agents, and editors representing diverse mediums.

Accepted mediums include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and digital art. All artwork must be ready to hang; loose prints must be in plastic sleeves. Artwork must not exceed 50 inches on any side. Entry fee is $25. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance during shipping; international artists are responsible for all international fees. Artists may deliver and pick up work in person if applicable. uBe Art will retain 40% of all sales. All artwork accepted must be listed for sale. Deadline for receiving artwork is January 29th, 2016. The exhibition opens February 4th, 2016, with an opening reception on February 5th from 6pm-10pm. The exhibition closes March 27th, 2016. Selected artists will be notified via email on January 11th, 2016.
