About This Call

Art Saint Louis presents "Creatures III," a juried exhibition featuring original artworks about creatures, critters, animals, and beasts—real or imagined. All explorations and interpretations of this theme are invited, and all media, styles, and techniques are encouraged.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Artists must be residents of this region to submit work and participate. All media are welcome, including airbrush, ceramics, collage, digital, drawing, glass, illustration, jewelry, metalsmithing, mixed media, mosaics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, video, woodworking, and more. Ceiling-installed and floor-installed artworks cannot be exhibited; all 3-D work is displayed on platforms, pedestals, or otherwise off-the-ground. Artists may submit up to 5 original artworks. Work samples may include 1-10 images and 0-5 videos (minimum 1 total sample, maximum 10 total samples).

Entry deadline is July 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fees are $25.00 for non-members and $10.00 for Art Saint Louis members. The exhibition runs September 23-October 19, 2023 at Art Saint Louis, 1223 Pine Street, St. Louis, MO 63103. A free reception is scheduled for September 23, 2023, 5-7 p.m. The gallery is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (closed Sundays and holidays). Jurors are Steve Jones and Laurie Hogin. Awards include one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence, four non-cash Awards of Excellence, and up to 3 Honorable Mentions. Award of Excellence recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2025" ten-artist curated exhibit. The jurying process is blind and anonymous; jurors do not see artist names during selection. Only artworks available for exhibition should be submitted; do not double-book work or submit pieces committed to overlapping exhibits.
