Creatures

"Creatures" is a juried exhibition featuring artworks about creatures, critters and beasts—real or imagined. All explorations of this theme are invited. Artworks in all media, techniques and styles are encouraged. The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, MO, from January 16-February 18, 2016, with a free reception on Saturday, January 16, 6-8 p.m.

Eligibility is open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Jurors are Heather Woodson, a ceramic sculptor and art educator, and Charles Houska, an artist and gallery owner, both based in St. Louis. Artists may submit up to 3 original artworks completed between 2012-2015. Work samples should include 1-6 images (JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi, 5MB maximum) and up to 3 videos. Artwork must be framed or have pre-approved presentation, with final installation size not exceeding 6' wide or 7' tall. Sculptures must be elevated at least 24" off the floor. Works not previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis Gallery or in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to the exhibit are eligible.

Entry fee is $35 for non-members or $20 for Art Saint Louis members (non-refundable). Five non-cash Awards of Excellence will be selected by the jurors. Award recipients will be eligible for the "Honor Awards 2017" ten-artist curated exhibit in Summer 2017. All artworks must have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale with an insurance value. Art Saint Louis retains 30% commission on sales, with 70% going to the artist. Artworks are insured at 50% of retail value during the exhibit. The entry deadline is October 24, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
