About This Call
Creative Visions: Dania Beach Public Art Initiative invites national artists to propose innovative public art concepts for the City of Dania Beach. The Public Art Advisory Board seeks fresh ideas from artists and creatives, with a focus on temporary, interactive, and technologically enhanced projects that may incorporate performance and storytelling. While permanent installations may be considered, the emphasis is on dynamic, short-term artistic expressions. National artists are encouraged to team with a South Florida artist and to partner with Dania Beach and/or South Florida businesses or non-profit organizations.
The initiative aims to transform Dania Beach into a canvas for public creativity, enhance the city's art program, foster artist-led community engagement addressing social and environmental topics, facilitate collaborations between artists and various sectors, and generate ideas to reimagine public spaces. Applications are welcome from professional public artists, mosaicists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, painters, photographers, poets, and other creative professionals. Eligibility requires at least 5 years of professional public art experience. Student and emerging artists are encouraged to participate as part of a team with an established artist or educational sponsor. Selected artists will develop more detailed proposals and receive a $250.00 stipend.
Proposals should utilize accessible outdoor public spaces including Dania Beach public parks, city gateways, City Hall, Dania Pointe, business locations, and neighborhoods. Applicants must submit a project statement (500 words or less) or short video (2 minutes or less) describing the concept, indicate if the project is site-specific or flexible, define location requirements (power, weather protection, etc.), and describe the community engagement aspect in detail. A 1-page resume or bio, 3-4 images of previous work with dates, and a simple estimated budget are required. Applicants must possess valid work authorization in the United States, be at least 18 years old, and have a minimum of five years of public art professional design experience. Entry deadline: April 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
