About This Call
Creative Reuse: CAE Member's Exhibition
Show Dates: January 11-February 8, 2019
The Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) invites current members and new applicants to participate in Creative Reuse. While suggested as a theme, artists are strongly encouraged to demonstrate approaches to reusing, recycling, or reclaiming materials. The exhibition explores how creative transformation can occur with seemingly mundane objects—from plastic bags woven into textiles to soda cans formed into sculptures to old buttons made into 3D portraits. All media are eligible, including alternative and new media.
Submit strong examples of your latest approaches that demonstrate a unique re-envisioning of recycled objects. Each submission must include an artist statement in the format of a short paragraph explaining the artwork, subject matter, motivation, or process. Artwork must be exhibition ready with hardware for hanging or specific installation instructions. All applicants are guaranteed at least one piece in the exhibition but may submit up to three works for consideration. Submissions are to be delivered in person to CAE (31880 Rocky Village Dr., Evergreen) on December 28 for live jurying by a special guest juror.
Eligibility Requirements: All artists must be current CAE members or apply for membership at time of entry. All artwork must be original, completed in the last 2 years, and not previously shown at CAE. All artwork must be for sale. Entry fee is $30 (membership fees apply for new members: $35/senior, $45/individual, $60/family). CAE retains a 40% commission on artwork sold during the exhibition. There is no limitation on artwork size.
