About This Call
In July 2013, the NEA awarded Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) an "Our Town" matching grant to help prepare a long-term creative placemaking plan for the South Loop and to commission four or more demonstration projects. The demonstration projects are intended to capitalize on imminent opportunities, including new developments slated to open through 2015.
Projects by artists and designers of regional and national significance will demonstrate that art, design interventions, or events can create excitement and visibility for the South Loop and strengthen relationships between BTAC, the City, other project partners and stakeholders, and established artists and arts organizations involved in public art and placemaking. The demonstration projects are expected to generate insights that inform the final draft of the creative placemaking plan and activities for years beyond the grant period. All selected creative placemakers will be considered part of the planning process team.
Work sample requirements: Submit 5 total samples, which may include up to 5 images and up to 5 videos. The project is managed by a team of artists and planners with Creative Community Builders, in partnership with the Mall of America, McGough, the Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau, and others.
