CraftTexas 2010

CraftTexas 2010 is the sixth in a series of juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft, hosted by Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. The exhibition features artists from all over Texas who work in clay, fiber, glass, metal and wood media and in found/recycled materials. The show will be captured in a DVD catalogue and may be toured, providing Texas artists the opportunity to be considered for inclusion in major national museum and private collections.

Eligibility: Open to all artists currently residing in Texas. Works in craft media (clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, and found/recycled materials) will be accepted. Each artist may submit up to three original works completed within the last two years. Work must be available for a one-year traveling schedule and may not be withdrawn from the exhibition prior to the final closing date. Crated work must fit through a 4' x 8' door and may not exceed 200 pounds in weight. Work cannot have been exhibited at HCCC in the past.

Submission Requirements: Applications completed online via CaFÉ system. Artist statement (maximum 1000 characters), current one-page resume in MS Word or PDF, and up to six digital images (up to two per work). Entry fee: $35 (non-refundable). Artists must indicate if work is for sale and list retail price if applicable; HCCC retains 50% commission on all retail sales. Work will be juried via high-resolution digital images. Notification of acceptance on or before April 19, 2010. Exhibition dates: September 25, 2010 – January 9, 2011 at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

Awards: Three Award of Merit prizes of $1,000 each. All selected artists receive the CraftTexas 2010 DVD catalogue. Accepted work should arrive exhibition ready between September 13-20, 2010. Artists are responsible for transit and insurance to HCCC. HCCC provides insurance while work is exhibited on site, in transit to first touring venue, and upon return to artist.
