About This Call

Crafting Tomorrow is a small-group exhibition held in partnership with LA Artcore and Textile Arts LA, featuring bodies of work by 3–5 selected artists at LA Artcore, 120 Judge John Aiso Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, from October 10 - November 2, 2025. The exhibition will be juried by Fafnir Adamites.

The call invites submissions from artists whose work explores what our lives, communities, and environment could look like in many possible futures. Whether an artist's vision is utopian, dystopian, or somewhere in between, these creative projections offer ways to understand where we are now as much as where we are going tomorrow. The exhibition highlights fiber and textile-based materials and techniques, including traditional and cross-disciplinary practices, experimental processes, and material innovation.

Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply. Submit 3–7 artworks (2D, 3D, audio, or video) along with a brief artist statement (500–800 words). Work sample requirements: up to 14 images total, up to 6 audio files, and up to 6 video files (minimum 6 total samples). Entry fee: $30 for SDA and Textile Arts LA members, $45 for non-members. Deadline: June 18, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification to artists: August 1. Work due at gallery: October 3–4. Artwork will be returned November 10.

Artwork requirements: 2D works cannot exceed 8' tall; 3D works cannot exceed 12' in width or length. Ceiling-suspended work is acceptable up to 15 lbs. Diptychs and triptychs are considered single artworks. Hanging work should arrive ready to hang with all hanging rods and devices included. Artists must provide all equipment for electrical components. LA Artcore provides insurance coverage up to $400 per artwork while in gallery care. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the gallery and for insurance during shipping. LA Artcore will facilitate sales by connecting interested buyers with artists; a 35% donation of each sale is recommended.
