About This Call

Cowboy True is a celebration honoring actual cowboys and the art, gear and trappings from their daily lives. This juried art exhibit and judged art show will be held at Bridwell Agriculture Center, 111 N. Burnett, Wichita Falls, TX on April 1 & 2, 2016. The event includes cowboy art, music, and food.

Artists may participate in two ways: (1) Juried Exhibit: Submit high-resolution photographs of yourself, your application, and your cowboy art or gear by January 22, 2016. Selected artists receive a 10 x 10 display space for $105.00 (due by March 6, 2016), which includes two event tickets, judging fees for two pieces, and catalogue inclusion. Two pieces may be entered into the judged art show, with judging by actual working cowboys. Additional pieces may be submitted for $30 each in different categories (minimum three artists per category). (2) Art Auction: Submit one piece for consideration by guest curators. Approximately 20 pieces will be selected for Saturday evening auction. Artists receive 75% of the auction price; 25% funds the event.

Work must be original and made by the applicant in categories including bits, spurs, buckles, jewelry, gun/knife engraving, saddles, boots, trappings/gear, photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures, carving, cowboy cartoons, and pottery. Commercially fabricated forms, kits, patterns, manufactured, mass-produced or molded items are not acceptable. Entry fee is $25.00. Submit 6-10 images of your work. Electricity is available; tables and chairs available upon request. Artists are responsible for all structures, lighting, set-up, and furnishings. Setup occurs Friday, April 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with spaces ready by 4:00 p.m. Dismantling is allowed Saturday evening for one hour after the event closes and Sunday, April 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Security is provided overnight; however, The Kemp at the Forum accepts no responsibility for stolen or damaged property, accidents, or injury.
