Cowboy True Art Exhibit & Auction

Cowboy True is a celebration to honor actual cowboys and the art, gear and trappings that come from their daily lives. This unique weekend of cowboy art, music and food will be held at Bridwell Agriculture Center, 111 N. Burnett, Wichita Falls, TX on March 27-28, 2015.

Artists may participate in a juried exhibit or art auction. For the juried exhibit, selected artists receive a 10 x 10 display space and are invoiced $130.00 for the space, which includes two tickets to all events, judging fees for two pieces of art, and inclusion in the event catalogue. Two pieces within the exhibit space may be entered into the judged art show, with judging by actual working cowboys. Additional pieces may be submitted for judging at $30 each in different art categories. For the art auction, artists may submit one piece to be considered for the Saturday evening event; approximately 20 pieces will be selected. Artists receive 75% of the auction price, with 25% going to fund the event.

Submit six photographs of original work from these categories: bits, spurs, buckles, jewelry, gun/knife engraving, saddles, boots, trappings/gear, photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures, carving, cowboy cartoons, and pottery. All work must be original and made by the applicant; commercially fabricated forms, kits, patterns, manufactured, mass-produced or molded items are not acceptable. Setup occurs Friday, March 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with exhibit spaces ready by 4:00 p.m. Opening reception is 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday features public viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by exhibit, dinner and auction from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Electricity is available. Artists are responsible for all necessary structures, lighting, set-up and furnishings. The space fee must be paid by March 6, 2015.
