About This Call
COURAGE - A Fine Art Exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the United States. Art in all media will be accepted with all concepts and subject matter reviewed, but the theme of "Courage" should be applied. Works must be original, not exceed 36 inches in any direction, and be completely the applicant's original idea and creation. Collaborative work should be entered under only one artist's name. Art that infringes on intellectual property rights will be disqualified.
The exhibition will be displayed at Fort Worth Community Arts Center (1300 Gendy Street) during Domestic Violence Awareness month. The Choose Courage Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to break the shame, stigma and silence surrounding domestic violence. The exhibition will inspire hope and celebrate beauty that can emerge from courageous choices. Jurors are Brett Dyer, Jen Thorenson, and Garret Pendergrass. The jurors reserve the right to reject any work not accurately represented in the digital file, and their decisions are final.
No entry fee is required. Work must be shipped ready to hang with wire hangers or d-rings (no sawtooth hangers). Works on paper should be framed. Paintings on canvas or panels must be framed or have painted gallery wrapped edges. Exceptions include oversized works, 3-D, video, and artist's books, which require special display and handling instructions. Shipped works are due September 25-29, 2017, or hand-delivered September 28-29 by appointment. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must include a prepaid return shipping label. All works will be insured upon arrival. Artists may sell their work or list it as NFS (not for sale). The FW Community Arts Center takes a 25% commission from sales and pays artists within 2 weeks of exhibition closing. Unsold works may be donated to the Choose Courage Foundation or returned to the artist. Selected artists will be notified September 16. Artist reception is October 6, 6-9 p.m. Hand-delivered work pickup is October 30, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Return shipping begins November 3.
