CORE New Art Space: Dog and Pony Show

Dog & Pony Show is an exhibition call for artists to submit over-the-top creations interpreting the theme of a highly promoted, often over-staged performance or presentation designed to sway or convince opinion. Artists are encouraged to get political, circus-y, or interpret the theme in their own way, and should include a one or two sentence explanation of their work.

Submit 1-3 images (2 shots per piece for 3-D work). All media in any combination are accepted; please list all media used. Work must be completely dry, with wall and suspended art having suitable means for hanging (no sawtooth hangers). Standing art must be stable. Work must be within 60 inches on its largest side and cannot weigh more than 80 lbs including shipping crate. A set-up diagram must accompany multiple pieces and installation art. Entry fee is $35. The juror is Denver contemporary abstract artist Doug Kacena, who will judge based on overall impact, content, composition, mastery of techniques, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Show dates are September 14 - October 1, 2017. Accepted artists will be notified on August 28. All work must be delivered by September 10, with an artist reception on September 15. CORE charges a 30% commission plus tax on art sold and will rebate payment within 45 days of the show's close. Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Artwork delivered in person or shipped without reusable packaging or prepaid shipping must be picked up by 5 p.m. October 1.
