About This Call

Contemporary Surrealism exhibition, November 1-30, 2023. Sedona Arts Center is celebrating its 65th anniversary and honoring the themes of its exhibits and events in relation to its history. This exhibit connects to the roots of the Arts Center and its early 1960s connection to Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning. Surrealism is a style of art in which ideas, images and objects are combined in a strange way, showing the creative potential of the unconscious mind.

All art mediums are accepted: 2-D, 3-D, audio and video. Original artwork only. Entry fee is $30. Artists can submit up to three images in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI, or up to three videos. Emerging and professional artists 18 years and older can apply. Artists will be notified by October 6, 2023. Work being shipped must be received between October 23-27 or hand delivered by October 30, 2023.

Monetary awards: First Place/Best of Show ($500), Second Place ($250), Third Place ($150). Honorable mention awards will be awarded at the discretion of the jurors with no monetary amount attached. People's Choice Award is announced at the end of the show with no monetary award attached. Sales split: 60% artist, 40% Sedona Arts Center.
