Contemporary Realism

Contemporary Realism is an online juried exhibition running November 13 - December 13, 2024. Site:Brooklyn is seeking works across all mediums that engage and develop the tradition of realism. Realism is always contemporary, always defining itself in relation to the world and the art that preceded it. While abstraction dominated much of 20th-century art, Realism has made a powerful return in recent decades. It is a style that speaks to both contemporary and long-term questions about nature, beauty, technology, and representation. Photography, painting, sculpture, and digital media have each used Realism to approach contemporary life in compelling and new ways.

The exhibition is juried by Jonathan Griffin, an independent art critic based in Los Angeles and Contributing Writer for Frieze magazine who also regularly writes for the New York Times, the Financial Times, Apollo and Ocula.

Entry Requirements: $26.00 entry fee for three images, plus $10.00 for each additional image (3-12 images total, 0-3 videos). Only original works may be submitted. All entries must be received by October 14, 2024 at 11:59 PM MT. Notification of acceptance will be sent October 23, 2024. All artwork must be priced for sale and available for sale during the exhibition. Artists will retain a 60% commission on all sales. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older.
