Contemporary Portrait: A National Juried Exhibition

Contemporary Portrait: A National Juried Exhibition seeks artworks that broaden the definition of portraiture and its relevance in contemporary art. Portraits can offer a conceptual interpretation of the theme through a diverse range of media and creative possibilities. This is LHUCA's 4th annual juried exhibition.

Open to all artists working in painting, drawing, prints, mixed media, collage, photography, ceramics, books, textiles, neon, wall sculptures, and wall installations. Maximum size for 2-D work is 48". 3-D work must fit on a pedestal no larger than 24". Only plexiglass is accepted as glazing on framed pieces (hand-delivered pieces may have glass). Artists must be at least 18 years old and living in the United States. Entry fee is $35 for up to three entries.

Entry deadline: October 31, 2018. Notification date: November 12, 2018 via email. Delivery deadline: November 28, 2018. Exhibition dates: December 7, 2018 – January 26, 2019. Opening receptions: December 7, 2018 and January 4, 2019 during First Friday Art Trail from 6–9 p.m. Return shipping provided week of February 4, 2019. Cash prizes: 1st place $600 plus solo exhibition in LHUCA's Martin McDonald Gallery August/September 2019 (with up to $400 in shipping cost); 2nd place $250; 3rd place $100; 1 Honorable Mention $50.
