About This Call
Contemporary Fiber 2016 is a juried exhibition running October 29 - December 3, 2016 at Niza Knoll Gallery, located in the Santa Fe Art District of Denver. This is an open call for fiber artists from Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Utah. The gallery is an established contemporary art venue in Denver's oldest and most well-known art district, which receives thousands of visitors during First and Third Friday openings.
Artists may submit any type of fiber art including art quilts, weavings, paper, wearables, 3-D sculptures, installations, wall art, and thread paintings made from natural or commercial fibers. Artists can submit up to 3 entries. Wall-hung pieces must not exceed 60" high by 48" wide. Pedestal-displayed pieces should not exceed 24" x 24" at the base. Wearable pieces must be accompanied by a manikin. The entry fee is $35.00 (same fee for 1, 2, or 3 pieces). Submissions require two color digital images per entry: a full view showing all edges and a close-up detail shot. The juror is Carol Ann Waugh, an internationally known fiber artist and curator of the first Contemporary Fiber exhibit in 2014.
Accepted artists must deliver their work in person to the gallery on October 27, 2016 (1-5pm) and pick it up after 3pm on December 3, 2016. Mailed work cannot be accepted. Work may be available for sale, with a 40% commission paid to the gallery. All work must be original, clean, in good condition, and include the artist's name and contact information permanently attached to the back or base. Notification of acceptance will be sent by October 15, 2016. For questions, contact Carol Ann Waugh at [email protected].
