Contemporary Encaustic 2017

Contemporary Encaustic 2017 seeks to exhibit the best of contemporary art and invites submissions that reflect a wide range of styles and imagery incorporating the encaustic medium. This juried exhibition will showcase innovative works that exhibit both traditional encaustic materials, techniques, and methods as well as works that explore unexpected relationships between encaustic and other materials.

Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition at Royal Contemporary in Florence, Colorado from July 6 through August 27, 2017, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 8. The exhibition will be promoted with professionally printed invitations, email announcements, website presence for selected artists, an opening reception, local and regional electronic postings, and press releases. Awards include $300 for Best of Show, $200 for 2nd Place, and $100 for 3rd Place.

Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 years of age working in encaustic media. All art must be original, completed in the last two years, and available through the entire run of the show. All works must be for sale. Artists must submit a minimum of two works and up to five works, with clearly focused, well-lit images on a neutral background. Two-dimensional works cannot exceed 36" in height and 36" in width (including frame). Three-dimensional works cannot exceed 48" in height, 24" in width, and 24" in depth, or weigh over 50 pounds. Work will be judged from digital images based on overall quality and support of the exhibition's goals. Entry fee is $35. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from Royal Contemporary. All shipped work must be received by June 30, 2017.
