Contemporary Encaustic 2015

Contemporary Encaustic 2015 is a juried exhibition seeking to exhibit the best of contemporary art using the encaustic medium. The exhibition invites submissions that reflect a wide range of styles and imagery incorporating encaustic, including both traditional encaustic materials and techniques as well as works exploring unexpected relationships between encaustic and other materials.

The exhibition runs from July 31 through September 13, 2015 at Royal Contemporary in Florence, Colorado. Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition with a reception on Friday, August 14, and an encaustic workshop by juror Susan M. Gibbons on Saturday, August 15. The exhibition will be promoted with professionally printed invitations, email announcements, website presence for all selected artists, and regional press.

Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 years of age working in encaustic media. All art must be original, completed in the last two years, and available through the entire run of the show. All works must be for sale. Entry fee is $35.00. Artists must submit a minimum of three works and up to five works, with each work represented by clearly focused, well-lit images on a neutral background. Two-dimensional works cannot exceed 36" in height and 33" in width, including frame. Three-dimensional works cannot exceed 36 inches in height, 20 inches in width, and 20 inches in depth, or weigh over 50 pounds. Awards: 1st $300, 2nd $200, 3rd $100. Deadline to submit: June 1, 2015. Notification of the juror's decision will be sent June 20. Work must arrive at Royal Contemporary no later than July 20, 2015. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from Royal Contemporary.
