Contemporary Drawing

The Art Gallery at Western Wyoming Community College invites submissions for Contemporary Drawing, an exhibition showcasing works that speak to current issues, explore fresh perspectives within the discipline, or demonstrate the breadth of possibilities available while working within the idiom of drawing. Drawing occupies a unique space in the contemporary art world, with the immediacy of many drawing media allowing for expressiveness often difficult to capture in other artistic disciplines. Contemporary Drawing accepts works made using drawing materials—either in part or in totality. Submitted works should clearly demonstrate the artist's use of drawing or drafting skills and be displayable in a traditional gallery setting.

Artists may submit one image for $15, with up to four additional images at $5 each. Artworks must include some element of drawing (traditional dry or wet media, new media, or mixed media). Accepted artworks must be wired and framed with no sawtooth hangers permitted. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must include a self-addressed shipping label for return of unsold work. Do not use packing peanuts when shipping. Label accepted artwork on the back with artist name, title, medium, and price, or insurance value if not for sale.

Accepted artworks must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. The gallery will insure artwork while on display at 50% of the listed sales price, or the listed insurance value if not for sale. The gallery takes 50% commission on sales and requires a W-9 from artists wishing to sell work. Entry deadline: September 6, 2023. Jurying complete: September 20, 2023. Accepted artwork due: October 20, 2023. Exhibition dates: October 27, 2023 – January 19, 2024. Artists must be 18 or older to apply. International submissions are eligible.
