Contemporary Clay 2020: Biennial Juried Exhibition

The Art Center hosts this international, juried exhibition every other spring, bringing artistic displays of diverse and enriching ceramic arts to the Grand Valley. Since 2006, Contemporary Clay has sought to showcase the latest developments in ceramic art nationwide, spanning the categories of functional vessels, sculptural ceramics, and installation art.

Entry fee is $35.00. Submissions must include 1-3 images. The submission deadline is February 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified on March 16. Shipped artwork window is April 13-17. Hand-delivered artwork drop-off is April 13-17, 10am-2pm. Installation takes place April 27-30. The reception is June 5, 7-9pm, followed by a juror workshop on June 6, 10am-4pm, and juror lecture at 5pm. Hand-delivered artwork pick-up is June 27, 9am-4pm, with return shipping beginning June 27.

This year's juror is professional ceramic artist Bill van Gilder, who has been a ceramic artist for over 50 years. He has traveled to Southern Africa to establish pottery programs and studios, and has contributed articles to Clay Times magazine while exhibiting internationally. Awards include $750 for Best of Show, $450 for First Place, $300 for Second Place, and $250 for Third Place.
