Connections: Textile Study Group of New York Juried Exhibition

Connections is a juried exhibition of works created by members of the Textile Study Group of New York (TSGNY). The exhibition will be held at Ceres Gallery in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, opening March 28, 2023 and running through April 22, 2023. The theme of the exhibition offers a wide scope for artistic interpretation: connections between materials, between people, between ourselves and nature. Both two- and three-dimensional work will be considered, with 25-45 works expected to be chosen anonymously from among the entries. The juror is independent curator Mary Birmingham, who began her career at the Whitney Museum of American Art and has held positions at Montclair Art Museum, Hunterdon Art Museum, and the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.

Eligibility: Artists must be a FULL member of TSGNY as of November 1, 2022 and must renew their membership in full for 2023. Current Newsletter members must upgrade to full membership before January 1, 2023 to be eligible. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable). Up to 2 original works may be submitted per artist. Entries must be original work completed after January 1, 2015. All work must include either fiber in content or be executed with at least one fiber technique. Eligible work includes two-dimensional works (quilts, tapestries, weavings, carpets), three-dimensional works in fiber, vessel forms/basketry, and wearables.

Submission guidelines: Submit one overall digital image and one detail digital image for each artwork as JPEG or JPG files, at least 270 dpi, 1200 pixels on the longest side, and under 5MB. Wall pieces: maximum width 48", maximum height 90", maximum depth 10". Works displayed on pedestals or floor: no larger than 20"x20" (width and depth). Artwork must be of professional standard and ready to hang. All submitted artwork must be for sale, priced to include a 15% commission. Ceres Gallery does not provide insurance; artists should insure their own work. Acceptance notification: February 24, 2023. Artwork delivery: March 22-24, 2023.
