About This Call
The 2nd Connections art festival is partially supported by a seed grant by the Downtown Challenge and primarily serves residents of the East Macon neighborhood adjacent to downtown. The all-day arts festival will be free and open to the public and will include tables for artists, arts groups, and community organizations; performances by community arts groups and headliners; arts activities; food vendors; and other entertainment, demonstrations and activities. The goal is to have over 2,000 people participate in this community event.
The festival seeks to feature a featured artist whose work aligns with and furthers the goals of the festival. The featured artist will bring a selection of works to be displayed in a pop-up gallery space inside the newly restored community arts center (outdoor space is also available). The artist will be expected to be present to speak to festival attendees about the work presented and should plan some sort of activity, demonstration, or engagement with community residents. The featured artist will receive a stipend of $1,000.00 for the day to cover expenses incurred. Volunteers will be available to assist the artist at the festival.
Entry fee is $30.00. Artists must submit 7-10 pieces they intend to display at the festival. All artists must be willing to travel to Macon, Georgia for participation. Artists are responsible for transporting artwork to the venue. The festival takes place April 21, 2018, 11 AM-4 PM, with exhibition close and artwork pick-up at 5 PM. All artists are automatically entered into the Ampersand network and may be contacted for participation in future events. Selected artists approve the use of their image and images of their work for promotional and marketing purposes for the festival; Connections will not reproduce or distribute images for any other purpose without express permission.
