About This Call
The City of Warsaw, Indiana and the Warsaw Public Art Commission (WPAC) seek proposals for outdoor, site-specific public art that will engage the community in its design, content, and/or actual making of the artwork. The artwork will be a permanent piece of Warsaw's expanding collection of public art. WPAC welcomes visual artists, sculptors, light and/or sound artists, performing artists, photographers, filmmakers, artist teams, and others to submit proposals. Artwork size and location are subject to engineering and safety constraints, and will be finalized in collaboration with the selected artist(s) and the Public Works department.
Public engagement should begin in May 2024, with installation complete by June 30, 2024. The completed work will be permanently exhibited and become the property of the city of Warsaw. Artists will receive a $10,000 stipend, up to $10,000 for material and installation costs, $750 for travel and accommodation, and $750 for artwork shipment. The entry fee is $20. Proposals must be submitted via Callforentries.org by 5pm EST on January 31, 2024. Selected artists will be notified by March 1, 2024, with planning meetings ongoing in March 2024 and an opening reception scheduled for July 2024.
Proposals must include a cover sheet with contact information and a 150-word project summary; a project proposal of up to 1,500 words describing the project, its relationship to the local landscape and audience, public engagement plan, materials, and engineering considerations; renderings and sketches; a budget demonstrating feasibility; a current resume or CV; and ten digital images of recent works with titles, dates, and brief descriptions. This opportunity is open to practicing artists or artist teams with a professional resume and exhibition record who can demonstrate a history of completing durable public art projects.
