Compelling Images from Virginia Photographers

Compelling Images from Virginia Photographers celebrates professional, original photography with varied aesthetics from Virginia. Open to all artists 18 or older residing in Virginia, this exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The d'Art Center is Norfolk's thirty-year-old art center which includes working professional artist studios and a wide variety of exhibitions and programming open to the public. The exhibition will be housed in d'Art's spacious main exhibition space, the Harbor Group International Gallery.

All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. Work is limited to photography only; all styles and aesthetics are considered. Works must be completed within the past two years and cannot exceed 48" in the longest direction or weigh more than 30 pounds. All two-dimensional works must be equipped with hanging wire for installation. The submission fee is $35.00 for up to 3 works. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), 3rd Place ($150), and multiple Merit awards ($50 each). The exhibition runs September 12 - October 21, 2017, with a reception on Thursday, September 21, 6:00-8:00pm. Submissions are due by Tuesday, August 1, 2017, with notifications by mid-August. Accepted works must arrive by Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must arrange pre-paid call tags through UPS or FedEx. Works not picked up within one month of the exhibition's end become property of the d'Art Center. Commission for sold works is 60% (artist) / 40% (d'Art Center), not including awards.
